Reclaiming the sacred in our work.

It all begins with intention. Perhaps you have been working with clients as a counselor, clinician or practitioner. One of your clients mentions the recent new moon cycle and the impact it has had on them. You begin to wonder, “is it okay to share my own experiences with this new moon cycle?” You hesitate. You begin to doubt. You didn’t learn this in your training or graduate school program. “How do I respond to this? I want to share but I don’t know. “

Does this sound like you? Probably. Perhaps you are a spiritualist, tarot enthusiast, astrology nerd, herbalist, artist, medium or identify as a witch, bruja, brujx, curanderx. You are wondering how to infuse the parts of you that identify as a healer or spiritual practitioner into your clinical work. We have been here before. It is time for us all to reclaim the sacred in our work with clients. The spiritual belongs in our healing practices and modalities. We do not have to relegate those parts into our metaphorical closets.

It is time for us to come out. Our clients need us to be authentic and real. Of course, we do so using clinical judgment and making sure that we center the client in their healing journey. But it is important not to be less of who you are. Be you. The sacred has always existed in our work as clinicians, psychotherapists, counselors, and social workers. In fact, the psyche in psychotherapy means soul. We are doing soul work, this work of healing is sacred and oftentimes spiritual. If you want to infuse spiritual work be sure to subscribe to our podcast where you can learn more on how to do just that.
